Starring in our own lives
“The reason so many of us are obsessed with becoming stars is because we’re not yet starring in our own lives. The cosmic spotlight isn’t pointed at you; it radiates from within you.”
Boom! Those are some wise words from Marian Williamson’s book ‘A Return to Love’ and they’ve got me thinking about what starring in my own life means.
Williamson went on to say, “A miracle worker is an artist of the soul. There’s no higher art than living a good life. An artist informs the world of what’s available behind the masks we all wear.”
Sometime I get caught up in the ego mind trip that I should be doing more and being more blah blah blah… and I forget that the highest form of art and offering to the world is just being happy and kind (which often requires doing less!).
Living the good life and being a star in our own life isn’t about faking an ideal perfect life, it’s about valuing every moment of our life as a crucial part of our unique hero’s journey and seeing every moment as a stage to shine our cosmic spot light.
When we step into centre stage of our own life we really show up no matter what we’re doing, and this has a positive impact on everyone and everything around us.
For me it means letting go of comparison, impatience, perfectionism and doubt because they distract me from showing up fully to the magic of starring in my own masterpiece (and I have to work on not being distracted every day).
It’s about remembering and honouring our intrinsic worthiness.
